Site Content Summary

Welcome to the Illinois State University CheMagic chemistry education Web site. This site links to chemical demonstration resources associated with the chemistry outreach presentation - "Is It Chemistry or Magic?" The site also links to chemical education resources that may be of interest to chemistry teachers and other chemists.

Site Navigation

A Web site maintained by two Emeritus Chemistry Professors (Otis and Jim) and one housefly (Ernie) is bound to be somewhat chaotic. The site administrators have made some attempt to bring order to this chaos by organizing content with the topics listed in the Site Navigation side bar. Think of it as the site's Maxwell's Demon.

Clicking Site Icons and Pop-ups

All Web sites should have a mascot. Ernie the fly is the mascot of the CheMagic Web site. He is hard to catch, but Gollum the useless spider has his eye on Ernie. Clicking on Cora the ladybug always returns to this site home page. Clicking on the magnifying lens toggles the font size between large and medium. Clicking on the stoichiometry icon evaluates any stoichiometric expression entered in the text field. Clicking on Ernie is next to impossible! Clicking on any of the links in this paragraph will illustrate the use of site's click/drag pop-up windows.

"Will you walk into my parlour?" said the Spider to the Fly,
"'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy..."
